The Australian Men’s Youth Sevens squad has been named today for the Australian Youth Olympic Festival being held in Sydney in January 2013.

The first Youth Women’s Rugby Sevens squad of 12 has been named for next year’s Australian Youth Olympic Festival (AYOF) in Sydney.

Qantas Men’s Sevens coach Michael O’Connor has again been forced to test the depth of Australia’s Sevens ranks, with injury impeding his selection options for Dubai, the second round of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

Qantas Women’s Sevens coach, Chris Lane, has continued his policy of exposing young talent to international Sevens, naming four uncapped players for the first round of the inaugural IRB Women’s Sevens World series in Dubai.

Rugby Sevens is continuing to grow in popularity in Australia with women’s training sessions now being hosted in Western Australia, NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

The Qantas Women’s Sevens side have been drawn along-side fellow core teams USA and the Netherlands as well as European powerhouse France for the opening round of the inaugural IRB Women’s Sevens World Series.
